Founded by Two Sisters
who have extreme passion for chili
Based in Singapore, MOFO CHILI was founded by two sisters, Monica and Foi who were previously professionals in the hotelier and F&B industry but currently dedicating their 100% focus on MOFO CHILI.
The name MOFO was created as a fusion of both their names, Monica and Foi. The sisters, who have extreme passion for chili, are known to have their homemade fried chili with everything they eat, be it soups, salads or even fries! Now, they are spreading their love for chili with MOFO CHILI.
Meet the founders, Monica & Steffi (nicknamed Foi)
Hi Foi, what inspired you to create your own line of chili?
We started eating chili from a very young age, but the highlight was when we had to go overseas for our tertiary studies. Monica went to the UK for university and she used to bring about 5 kg worth of fried chili with her, as she would eat her every home cooked meal with chili. Her chili became well known amongst friends and they would always ask for some when Monica had extras.
A couple of years after graduation, Monica and her friends still kept in touch, and her friends were the force behind the MOFO CHILI sisters selling their chilies at farmers markets. Since then, response for their chili has been very good, and that brings us to where MOFO CHILI is today.
What makes your creations better than the ones we find in stores?
Firstly, we are vegetarian friendly so no pork, no lard. We also do not use preservative, additives or stabilizers. MOFO CHILI was created to give your dish a spicy kick, without actually changing the taste of it.
Unlike the chilies you find in stores today, we do not use vinegar or shrimps hence our taste is not fishy nor sour. MOFO CHILI is also versatile, as we do not change the taste of your dish, we are changing the perception that chili only goes well with Asian food.
How many flavours are there currently?
Right now we have three product flavors: Dodge the Bullet (level 5), Final Destination (level 10), MOFO Gunpowder (level 7)
The difference between the Dodge the Bullet and Final Destination is just their spicy level, they have the same taste. Whereas MOFO Gunpowder is our chili powder. We started out with three different chili tastings with thirty plus attendees, and most of the attendees liked the current Final Destination.
Dodge the Bullet came about when a partner restaurant requested a milder version of Final Destination.

Bring us through the steps of an idea to fruition (elaborate the brainstorming, recipe refining, tasting process, etc..)
Well, MOFO CHILI is Foi’s recipe. Foi has always been passionate about cooking and chili. So, with the three chili tastings, we have come up with a few completely different recipes and chilies. We had narrowed down our recipe to the one most liked by the attendees, and Final Destination was born. We believe that Final Destination is exactly what everybody needs.
Give us some recommendation to enjoy MOFO CHILI with food paring and how should we eat it?
MOFO CHILI is very versatile, and with that said, you can eat it with ANYTHING. If we had to choose our favorites, Monica loves MOFO CHILI with pizza and steamboat while Foi loves it with fried noodles and burgers. However, MOFO CHILI can be used for cooking as well, not just for dipping. Hence, we have come up with recipes which you can find on our website at www.mofochili.com/recipes
Are there any upcoming new flavours and developments in the pipeline?
We have many products in mind but we will be sharing it closer to the launches of our products. As for food items, at every pop up markets, we would come up with different food items whenever we can. For example, at the latest D’Kranji Farmers Market event, we had spicy Spanish Omelets, MOFO chicken kebab and spicy butter corn, etc..

MOFO CHILI is planning to launch our e-commerce site sometime soon so customers can buy it off from us directly (however details & launch date TBC, do stay tuned..)
